Feeling hungover for absolutely no reason?

Could foods, drinks or supplements be part of the picture?

Perhaps garlic, onions, eggs, wine or a supplement seem to leave you with a headache, digestive upset or a heavy, hungover feeling. You might have been told these are healthy choices and find it difficult to explain why they don’t always feel good for you.

People often use “sulphur sensitivity” to describe these experiences, but that phrase can cover different things. Foods that contain sulphur, sulphites used in some foods and drinks, and individual supplements are not all the same. I won’t assume that reacting to one means you need to avoid them all.

We’ll begin with what you have noticed

I’ll listen to which foods or products seem to affect you, what the reaction feels like, how quickly it happens and whether the pattern is consistent. We’ll also look at your digestion, the rest of your diet, your health history and any other symptoms happening alongside it.

I also look at how your body processes and clears sulphur compounds, including the pathways involving the liver. If foods or supplements repeatedly leave you feeling rotten, I want to explore what may be placing demands on those pathways and how we can support them. We’ll consider this alongside your digestion, nutrition and wider health history, rather than simply giving you a list of foods to avoid.

From there, we can work out practical steps without making your diet unnecessarily small. That might mean looking more closely at particular ingredients, changing one thing at a time, and paying attention to what genuinely makes a difference.

The aim is to replace guesswork with a clearer picture of your own experience. You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what to call it. We can work through it together.

Would you like more individual support?

I offer a comprehensive, individualised programme shaped around your needs and circumstances. We can explore food, lifestyle, supplements and herbs, and I can recommend testing when appropriate. Email lisa@evolvefemalewellness.com to enquire about working together.
