Were you born running?

When everyone else’s needs come before your own

Are you the one who says yes, takes on another job and carries everyone else’s worries as well as your own? Perhaps you’ve been running the ship for so long that you can’t remember what it feels like to put anything down.

For some women, the load has built slowly. For others, difficult experiences or trauma have meant years of feeling on high alert, as though the tiger is always just behind them. You keep going because people depend on you. Then one day, the things you used to manage, or even a simple request from family or friends, feel impossible, and you’ve finally hit a wall.

Have you had to become so independent that asking for help now feels uncomfortable? Perhaps you’ve spent years in a role where you must be strong, provide, organise and keep going, while the softer, more receptive side of you has had little room. You may even worry that leaning on someone would make you seem weak. It doesn’t. Asking for help is not a failure.

How did you get here?

I want to hear what life has asked of you, including the things that may never have made it onto a health form. When did your energy begin to change? How are you sleeping and eating? What happens in your body when you try to rest? Are there people you can lean on, or have you become the person everyone leans on?

We can look at nourishment, digestion, sleep and daily rhythms alongside the pressures you’ve been carrying. We can also talk about where a boundary, a quieter day or asking for help might give you some breathing room. If trauma is part of your story, we’ll approach it gently and at your pace.

You don’t have to earn rest by reaching breaking point. My aim is to help you understand what has been draining you and begin building yourself up, one manageable step at a time.
